Shillong writer’s book finds global appreciation

GANGTOK,
July 22: Shillong based writer Salil Gewali was
felicitated by Ramanjuam Mission of Chennai during a
recently held seminar organized at Chennai.
Chairman of Ramanujam Mission Prof Swami Chaturvedi
felicitated Gewali for his book, ‘What is India?’
Gewali had published the book from Shillong which was
released in April, 2009 by Meghalaya Governor RS
Mooshahary.
According to the writer, the book is also being
published from Georgia, USA. The book is the compilation
of quotes of the world renowned greatest philosophers,
scientists on the significance of Indian wisdom and
spirituality, he said.
In his address, Prof Chaturvedi said that the book
written by Gewali was an eye-opener.
The seminar was attended by national and international
level scholars, scientists and writers.
New York neuro psychologist Dr Robert Maldonado said
that the book reveals how the Upanishads and other
Indian classics transformed the perception of many
Western scholars.
Eminent scholars have highly appreciated the book
written by Gewali.
“At the age of 59, I am still a student of India and I
have not come across such rich compilation by anyone. I
am absolutely thrilled at the quality and depth of this
compilation. A ‘must read’ for every scientist and an
educated man”, commented S Murthy Divakaruni, Chairman
of the SPE Digital Energy and Executive in the Energy &
Utilities Space based in Texas. |

Gorkha Shaheed Sewa Samiti to hold blood
donation camp in
memory of martyr Maj. Durga Malla and Capt.
Dalbahadur Thapa
of the Indian freedom movement.
An
Appeal to all
Gorkha Shaheed Sewa Samiti - an NGO has been
working for the betterment of the society
through its social welfare activities. It has
been decided with the consent of all the members
that a blood donation camp would be organised at
Indian Red Cross Society Blood Bank, New Delhi
The underlying objective behind the said event
would be to help the Indian Red Cross Society
Blood Bank through its voluntary means for the
betterment of the society as a whole, while also
to commemorate the social event by paying homage
to the martyrs of Indian freedom movement- Capt.
Dalbahadur Thapa and Maj. Durga Malla of Indian
national Army (INA), their contribution towards
the nation cannot be remained unsung.
A saga of patriotism towards their nation- Maj.
Durga Malla had to face the gallows on 25th of
Aug, 1944 at Delhi central jail while fighting
the Britishers. Similarly Capt. Dalbahadur Thapa
became a martyr, who was hanged on 3rd may 1945
at Delhi central jail
We have been socially active and responsible
right from its inception -
Year 2000, at the national Capital.
We request people from every walks of life to
participate in the blood donation camp and make
our sincere effort a success.

Identification of fake institutions |

Gangtok, July 28: The Central Government, through the
University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for
Technical Education (AICTE), keeps a watch over nefarious
activities of the fake universities/institutions which run
vocational and technical courses.
During the last three years and the current year so far, the UGC
has identified three fake universities/institutions (Vocational
and Technical), two in Uttar Pradesh and one in Delhi. The AICTE,
during this period, has identified 205 fake technical education
institutions, out of which 76 are in Maharashtra, 24 in Delhi,
22 in Karnataka, 16 each in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, 15 in
West Bengal, 10 in Haryana, 9 in Chandigarh, 8 in Andhra
Pradesh, 3 in Gujarat, 2 each in Punjab and Kerala and 1 each in
Goa and Rajasthan.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Human
Resource Development.
