One arrested with Drug

Gangtok, August 28: The Government of Sikkim has felt that active involvement of the political leadership at various levels is a critical requirement for achieving sustainable development of its people. The Government of Sikkim therefore has decided to organise regular training-cum-orientation for the elected representatives should be imparted on the latest developments in Rural Development.

In this background, a two day Training-cum- -Orientation Course on Rural Development Programmes and Decentralization was held on 27th and 28th August 2009 at the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Hyderabad.

A 16 member delegation consisting of: C.B. Karki, Minister for Rural Management and Development Department, D. B. Thapa, Minister for Urban Development and Housing Department and Ms. Neeru Sewa, Minister for Commerce & Industries and IPR and 12 MLAs of newly constituted State Legislative Assembly of Sikkim have attended the training-cum-orientation programme.

Anil Ganeriwa!a, Secretary, Rural Management and Development Department, Government of Sikkim has accompanied the delegation. B.K. Sinha, Director General, K.N. Kumar, Deputy Director General, NIRD and Dr D. S. Gangwar, Joint Secretary (Training), Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, have interacted with the participants. The training programme covered several important programmes of the Ministry of Rural Development such as: NREGS, SGSY, lAY and sessions were taken by the eminent academicians and developmental administrators on the latest trends in implementation of rural development programmes and decentralization, as per a press release received from RM&DD.

Gorkha Shaheed Sewa Samiti to hold blood donation camp in
memory of martyr Maj. Durga Malla and Capt. Dalbahadur Thapa
of the Indian freedom movement.



An Appeal to all


Gorkha Shaheed Sewa Samiti - an NGO has been working for the betterment of the society through its social welfare activities. It has been decided with the consent of all the members that a blood donation camp would be organised at Indian Red Cross Society Blood Bank, New Delhi

The underlying objective behind the said event would be to help the Indian Red Cross Society Blood Bank through its voluntary means for the betterment of the society as a whole, while also to commemorate the social event by paying homage to the martyrs of Indian freedom movement- Capt. Dalbahadur Thapa and Maj. Durga Malla of Indian national Army (INA), their contribution towards the nation cannot be remained unsung.

A saga of patriotism towards their nation- Maj. Durga Malla had to face the gallows on 25th of Aug, 1944 at Delhi central jail while fighting the Britishers. Similarly Capt. Dalbahadur Thapa became a martyr, who was hanged on 3rd may 1945 at Delhi central jail

We have been socially active and responsible right from its inception -
Year 2000, at the national Capital.

We request people from every walks of life to participate in the blood donation camp and make our sincere effort a success.
