Mangan, August 28: A mock drill based on village
disaster management was organised in a remote village of
North District headquarter on August 27. The remote
hamlet has not connected with proper facilities and link
road where 38 house holds with less then 300 population
are settled.
Sardong village which falls under Phensang Gram
Panchayat Unit under Kabi BAC, North Sikkim is one of
the remotest place of North District which is situated
50 Km away from the district head quarter, Mangan,
informed State Project Officer-cum- Jt Secretary LR&DM
department for the Monitoring Team, Samrat from UNDP
India, Delhi.
To make awareness on the disaster, a mock drill was
organised to aware the Village Disaster Management
Committee and Village Disaster Management Team of
Sardong, how fast they can response the disaster and
minimize the loss.
After completion of mock exercise, during interaction
with VDMC Chairman, SPO, DPO East, Guest from Delhi, it
was observed that medical camp part was missing in the
exercise but it was again clarified that the mock
exercise was based on minor disaster where only three
person got injured in whole scene and open space has
been considered as a place to give First Aid to the
victims. |

donation camp in
memory of martyr Maj. Durga Malla and Capt.
Dalbahadur Thapa
of the Indian freedom movement.
An
Appeal to all
Gorkha Shaheed Sewa Samiti - an NGO has been
working for the betterment of the society
through its social welfare activities. It has
been decided with the consent of all the members
that a blood donation camp would be organised at
Indian Red Cross Society Blood Bank, New Delhi
The underlying objective behind the said event
would be to help the Indian Red Cross Society
Blood Bank through its voluntary means for the
betterment of the society as a whole, while also
to commemorate the social event by paying homage
to the martyrs of Indian freedom movement- Capt.
Dalbahadur Thapa and Maj. Durga Malla of Indian
national Army (INA), their contribution towards
the nation cannot be remained unsung.
A saga of patriotism towards their nation- Maj.
Durga Malla had to face the gallows on 25th of
Aug, 1944 at Delhi central jail while fighting
the Britishers. Similarly Capt. Dalbahadur Thapa
became a martyr, who was hanged on 3rd may 1945
at Delhi central jail
